Week of 5/1/23

This week I made my dispenser out of cardboard. I made a very simple version without any pieces on the bottom, and it didn't work at all. The chamber that holds the Jolly Ranchers was too wide, so I made it smaller in the next design. In the old version, I was using a ruler and a sharpie to measure where I needed to fold the cardboard, but in the new design I put lines that I engraved to make it more accurate. I also didn't have a hole in the spinning wheel piece to put an axis in, so I also did that. Overall, the old design was horrible but I'm glad I made it because I learned a lot from it. The new design took a while to cut because of the engraving, but once it was done I taped everything together. It spin good at first, but once I put Jolly Ranchers in it stopped working completely for many different reasons. For one, the width of the holder which I shrunk needs to be made bigger. The wheel also doesn't fit perfectly and Jolly Ranchers get stuck or fall out. On top of all that, the funnel on the inside which I had taped kept making the wheel get stuck, so I got rid of the whole dispenser and I have to start over. I either have to change the candy I'm using or figure out another way to dispense Jolly Ranchers because this is taking too much time and I can't seem to find a design that works.
